‘A step forward, 2 steps backward’

Gov. Art Defensor Jr and Mayor Jerry P. Trenas

“A STEP FORWARD, 2 STEPS BACKWARD”: Iloilo Governor Arthur Defensor Jr. and City Mayor Jerry Trenas propose suspension of air and sea travel from 3 target areas.

After consulting with the local Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF) on Covid 19, Trenas and Defensor have today decided to ask the national IATF for a moratorium on trips of passenger airplanes and ships from Metro Manila, Cebu and Calabarzon until April 10, 2021.

Calabarzon refers to the provinces of Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal and Quezon. The cited areas have lately experienced spikes in new Covid 19 cases based on the trackings recorded by the Department of Health.

Trenas briefed the media today that so far the other local chief executives (LCEs) in the region have yet to act on their response to the resurgence of Covid 19.

The national IATF early in March has issued guidelines for a “uniform” travel protocols in general community quarantine (GCQ) and modified GCQ areas of the country.
