The Officer In-charge at the Department of Energy (DOE) Sharon Serag Garin is the new Secretary, a DOE social media page post announced Thursday, July 1.
Secretary Sharon S. Garin is a Certified Public Accountant, Lawyer, and holds a Master’s in Business Administration (MBA).
Garin was designated OIC Secretary of DOE on June 16, 2025 after serving as Undersecretary since September 2022, where she led key leadership portfolio as Chairperson of the Nuclear Energy Program Coordinating Committee, Financial and Legal Services, and as the Department’s Legislative Liaison.
The ad interim appointment would go through confirmation by the Commission on Appointments when the 20th Congress goes in session starting on the 4th Monday of July.
