New law makes permanent validity of birth, death, and marriage certificates

NEW LAW MAKES PERMANENT VALIDITY OF BIRTH, DEATH AND MARRIAGE CERTIFICATES

Regardless of their date of issuance, the certificates of live birth, death and marriage issued by the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) or the local civil registries shall now have permanent validity and will be recognized and accepted in all government and private transactions.

Republic Act No. 11909 or the “Permanent Validity of Certificates of Live Birth, Death and Marriage Act” lapsed into law on July 28, 2022.

Guimaras Rep. Lucille Nava, principal author of RA 11909 shepherded the bill as chairperson of the House Committee on Population and Family Relations during the 18th Congress.

“The new law eases the unnecessary burden on our people of securing vital documents from the PSA,” Rep. Lucille Nava said.
