AKLAN GOV PLEADS PRIORITY JABS FOR BORACAY WORKERS: says tourism sector adds P56 billion to country’s gross domestic product (GDP) as of last count.

Some 40,000 doses of COVID-19 vaccine were requested to be prioritized by the national Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF) last month for Boracay workers, Aklan Gov. Florencio Miraflores told the press yesterday.

“To revive the economy, it is very important to revive tourism,” Miraflores stressed. He noted however, that the health sector frontliners and seniors precede the tourism sector on the list of priorities.

The Province of Aklan received yesterday its initial share of 2,420 doses Sinovac vaccine from the Regional Health Office in Iloilo City.

So far the Philippines has received 600,000 doses of Sinovac Biotech’s CoronaVac, and 500,000 doses of AstraZeneca’s vaccine. Both jabs are administered in two doses.
