Trade fair highlights Roxas City’s 72nd Charter Day

TRADE FAIR HIGHLIGHTS ROXAS CITY’S 72ND CHARTER DAY ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATIONS ON MAY 8-14, 2023

The “Kaadlawan sang Roxas NegoFair 2023” opened on May 8 at the Event Center, SM City Roxas with Mayor Ronnie Dadivas, Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) employees and small business owners gracing the marketing event.

Eight booths representing the city’s clustered 47 barangays, along with 7 small and medium enterprises are joining the NegoFair to showcase their products like Capisnon native handicrafts, processed foods and souvenir items, among others.

NegoFair also features 5 tourism promotion booths that showcases the services and tourist spots in Roxas City and Capiz.

Republic Act 603 or the Roxas City Charter renamed the municipality of Capiz as Roxas City in honor of the late President Manuel Acuña Roxas.

The cityhood bill was sponsored by then Rep. Ramon Arnaldo and signed into law by President Elpidio Quirino on April 11, 1951.

Pres. Quirino subsequently issued executive order 438 setting the Roxas City charter day on May 12, 1951 and on May 12 of each year thereafter. /with PIA Capiz (H)
