Sinovac vaccine rolls out in Iloilo

Dr. Ma. Sylvia Teresa de Pili, head of the Internal Medicine Department at St. Paul’s Hospital in Iloilo City got the first jab of CoronaVac at 3PM today.

Iloilo St. Paul’s Hospital is one of 4 tertiary health facilities in the city to receive the first batch of CoronaVac, along with the Iloilo Doctors’ Hospital, Western Visayas Medical Center, and WVSU-Medical Center.

Some 17,400 doses of Sinovac Biotech’s COVID-19 vaccine were allocated to Western Visayas which arrived early today from Manila, and part of the 600,000 doses donated by China on February 28, 2021.

Meanwhile, some 487,200 doses of AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine arrived in Manila yesterday, the first batch of vaccines donated by the US and European nations through the COVAX facility of the World Health Organization (WHO).

COVAX and the WHO have committed some 4.5 million doses of AstraZeneca vaccines for the Philippines.
