Mayor Treñas uses ‘carrot and stick’ as GCQ protocols are extended

Mayor Jerry Treñas

Treñas wants stricter adherence to health standards even as he attempts a “business recovery plan.”

“I am meeting today with the local IATF (inter-agency task force) on COVID-19,” the mayor told Bombo Radyo’s John Talento on live broadcast.

Treñas disclosed he would get some input from the local IATF on how to go about gradually allowing some businesses that offer 24-hour services.

These include selected food joints like Mcdonalds, Jollibee or Mang Inasal, and convenience stores like 7-11, Quixmart and I-mart.

The mayor noted that curfew exemptions are already allowed for call center workers and similar establishments.

At the same time Mayor Treñas reminded the Ilongos to “adhere with the minimum health standards” like the wearing of face masks, regular hand washing and physical distancing.
