Iloilo City’s honorific by UNESCO as “Creative City for Gastronomy” once more gets the spotlight as 84 local organizations (LOs) of Junior Chamber International (JCI) in the Visayas converge here for the 46th Area Conference (AREACON) on September 4-6, 2026.
Blessed Bea Plondaya, JCI Iloilo Regatta executive vice president and conference director, Steve Navigar Jr., JCI Iloilo Regatta president, told a radio interview by “RMN Sunday Special” program over the weekend that host LO JCI Regatta is collaborating prep-ups with other LOs in Iloilo – like JCI Barotac Nuevo Tamasak, JCI Iloilo Dinagyang, and JCI Iloilo Ilang-Ilang.
Days earlier, JCI Iloilo Regatta officers also had a full pre-conference briefing with Iloilo City Mayor Raisa Trenas at city hall. Treñas reportedly noted that 300 or so young leaders meeting here definitely affirms the city’s badge as center for MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences and Exhibitions).
JCI is “a leadership organization, training future leaders” for the community and country, said Steve Navigar Jr. A highlight to its creed “that service to humanity is the best work of life.” (HilwayNews)
