MAYORS RAISE ALARM OVER DUBIOUS LAND DEALS IN GUIMARAS: brokers feed on unwitting buyers as speculations run high due to the planned Panay-Guimaras bridge project.
“We urge the public to be wary of illegal and unregulated sale of subdivision lots in the province to protect them from possible fraudulent manipulation by unscrupulous sellers and operators,” said Mayor Manny Galila of Nueva Valencia.
Mayor Galila presided over a media briefing held April 22 at the Jordan municipal hall. He is president of the League of Municipalities of the Philippines (LMP) Guimaras chapter.
The LMP Guimaras also urged the Housing and Land Use Regulatory Board (HLURB) and Dep’t of Natural Resources (DENR) through a resolution on April 14, 2021 “to take appropriate action against illegal subdivision projects.”
Other Guimaras mayors who participated in the dialogue with local media included Eugene Reyes of Buenavista and Ruben Corpuz of Jordan. Sibunag town councilor Glicerio Edang represented mayor Annabelle Samaniego.
