ROXAS CITY, Capiz —- an otherwise serious but trite Regional Science and Technology Fair held here last week sprang into a jovial affair for locals and guests with Science secretary Renato Solidum Jr. gracing the highlight activity “Siyensadya sa Roxas City” at the People’s Park on September 10.
Roxas city mayor Ronnie Dadivas offered in levity a new definition to the acronym DOST – “Diwal is Off Season Today,” a deviant of the familiar Department of Science and Technology.
The mayor’s announcement that “Diwal,” the city’s prized angel wings clam has skipped the menu due to unfavorable weather conditions, somehow set the right mood among the event participants
The Roxas city government hosted Sec. Solidum at the 3-day Regional Science and Technology Week (RSTW) celebration in partnership with Capiz province, Robinson’s Roxas, and Capiz State University.
During the opening day of the RSTW, a SAFE digital application was launched as part of the overall development of One Roxas App to digitize the transactions with the local government.
The SAFE app, an acronym for Sanitation, Accreditation for Food Establishments, will serve as a tool to help sanitary inspectors ensure compliance to good manufacturing practices among food establishments.
