ILOILO CITY — Mayor Raisa Treñas convened an emergency meeting at City hall afternoon of Wednesday, October 1 with building owners, business leaders, and even officers of educational institutions here.

Proactive readiness like simulation exercises, periodic workshops, easy access and adequately equipped evacuation facilities, topped the agenda dialogue.

Backstopping Mayor Treñas in the conference were the Office of the Building Official (OBO), the City Engineer’s Office (CEO), and the Facility Conservation Office (FCO) which comprise the Critical Infrastructure Cluster in the Iloilo City government.

The gathering was a quick response forum in wake of the 6.9 magnitude earthquake with its epicenter traced 17 kilometers northeast of Bogo City at a depth of 10 kilometers, according to the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs).
