The Philippine National Police (PNP) turn-over of command on June 2 will install police Major General Nicolas Torre III as Chief PNP vice police General Rommel Francisco Marbil, whose term was extended by the President for four months since February 7, 2025.
While Torre’s listed home province is South Cotabato, family members in Dumangas, Iloilo declared in a local radio interview that Nicolas “Junjun” Torre III is full-bloodied Ilonggo whose mother is a Deloso from Dumangas and his father from Tigbauan town.
“Nakaagi pa gani nga nangin dinapit sia “diri sa amon fiesta,” an aunt of General Torre’s told reporter Marjorie Hervo Miane of RMN DYRI Iloilo.
Torre graduated his course on Public Safety from the Philippine National Police Academy (PNPA) in 1993. He served as Director of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) prior to his appointment as Chief PNP.
