ILOILO CITY – Beneficiaries of the Department of labor’s Emergency Employment Program (DEEP) here were tapped for the clean-up drive against dengue.
“We deployed our emergency employment workers in barangays to ensure that we have no stagnant water… every time we roll out our DEEP program, we have lower cases of dengue,” said the city employment service office manager Gabriel Umadhay.
Umadhay disclosed that 843 workers were deployed on areas which the General Services Office could not reach, like community canals and stockpiled garbage.
The P5 million DOLE fund for the 843 DEEP beneficiaries covers for the honorarium of P513 per day for 10 days. (with Perla Lena, pna)
