MANILA — the Commission on elections (Comelec) second division declared through a resolution on Wednesday, June 18 Bienvenido “Benny” Abante winner as representative of the 6th district Manila in the last May 12 elections, after the poll body nullified the candidacy of Luis “Joey” Chua Uy for not being a “natural-born Filipino citizen”.
Uy was proclaimed winner in May after edging out Abante by 1,388 votes, getting 64,746 against Abante’s 63,358.
The city of Manila is represented with six congressional districts in the House of Representatives.
