The detailed engineering design (DED) and other pre-construction works on the Panay Guimaras Negros (PGN) bridge project is on schedule, Assistant regional director #EngrJoseAlFruto of the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) regional office noted on Monday, July 14, 2025.

As reported early this year by the DPWH Unified Project Management Office (UPMO), ARD Fruto said the project’s “civil works were set to start July 2026, which means that procurement of materials could begin early next year.”
UPMO project head Engr. Antonio Irwin Aranaz reported last March to then #MayorJerryTreñas as head of the RDC Infrastrucrure Development Committee that the loan agreement for the bridge project would be signed this September between the Korean Eximbank and Government of the Philippines.
The PGN bridge project is a multi-year, two segment construction structures estimated to cost P187 billion. President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. ordered the DPWH early last year to fast-track the process of project completion.
